Lena Epstein is a successful business owner, job creator, philanthropist, and politician. Lena’s signature skills include leadership, interpersonal skills, independent mindedness, collaboration, financial competence, and the ability to handle complex, multifaceted business situations.
Ms. Epstein is co-owner and a top executive of Vesco Oil Corporation, a leading petroleum supplier based in Michigan with $200 million in annual revenue and ranked the 7th largest woman-owned business in Michigan. Serving as a board member since 2009, Lena has been responsible for three major acquisitions, which added $50 million in annual sales to the organization. Furthermore, through her leadership and diligence, Ms. Epstein successfully added major brands, such as Castrol Industrial Products, to Vesco’s product offering, which has generated an additional $10 million in annual revenue. Lena played an instrumental role in leading the process for qualifying Vesco as a Women Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) member. As a member of Vesco’s board of directors and serving on the compensation subcommittee, Ms. Epstein is recognized for leading the successful transition of Generation II to Generation III of the Epstein Family ownership unit.
As Vice President and incoming President of the Marjory & Donald Epstein Family Charitable Foundation, Lena helps guide the foundation in fulfilling its mission to contribute to 501C(3) organizations that are dedicated to eliminating hunger and poverty throughout the state of Michigan. Under Ms. Epstein’s leadership, the organization has donated over five hundred thousand dollars to various organizations in need.
In addition to her work at Vesco Oil Corporation and the Marjory & Donald Family Charitable Foundation, Lena is passionate about education and serves on the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, the Detroit Historical Society, and the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce. Lena is dedicated to utilizing her experience within the private sector to broaden access to high quality education by supporting innovation, reducing barriers to entry, and building strong communities. Lena’s extensive political experience includes (but is not limited to):

Ms. Epstein holds a BA in Economics from Harvard University (Cum Laude 2003) and an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business (2008). Additional honors and recognitions include Lawrence Technological University “Leaders and Innovators” Award, Crain’s Detroit 20 in their 20s, DBusiness 30 in their 30s, and Oakland County’s 40 under 40.
